Big Easy Martini's

With Mardi Gras in full swing, how about a couple of adult beverages this week. These New Orleans inspired drinks are a great way to celebrate any occasion.


3 cups mango vodka, chilled

3/4 cup pepper vodka, chilled

3/4 cup sweet and sour mix, chilled

3/4 cup Simple Syrup (recipe to follow)

1/2 cup fresh lime juice, chilled

2 tablespoons water

Purple, Green or Gold sugars

Maraschino cherries


In a pitcher, stir together vodkas, sweet and sour mix, Simple Syrup, and lime juice.

In a small rimmed dish, place 2 tablespoons water. In separate small bowls, add colored sugars. ( you can use regular sugar if you wish). Gari=nish martini glasses, f desired, by dipping rims in water, and then dipping into desired sugar. Pour vodka mixture into glass, and add maraschino cherries, if desired.


Simple Syrup


In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup water to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Let cool to room temperature before using. Refrigerate in an airtight container up to one month.
