Key Lime Sorbet

Time to head to the Florida Keys. The most popular dish to come from those islands is the Key Lime Pie. This week, lets make some Key lime desserts


1 1/4 cups plus 3 tablespoons sugar

1 1/4 cups water

Zest of 5 limes

1 1/4 cups fresh Lime Juice

1 1/2 ounces Key Lime Juice


In a medium saucepan, heat sugar and 1 1/4 cups water over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and add lime zest; let stand until cool. Add lime juices. Cover and refrigerate.

Add lime mixture to the bowl of an ice cream maker, and process according to manufacturer's instructions. Use immediately, or transfer to a freezer-safe jars, and freeze.
